While at Sun, I was the UX Project Lead for the kenai.com project. kenai.com was a community portal for open source development originally built to replace java.net. My team was responsible for all interaction and visual design for this project. We also provided the HTML/CSS to the front-end engineers for all the pages in the site. I performed a number of usability studies at key phases of the project.
The challenge for this project was to design a fresh set (coined Web 2.0 at the time) of design patterns in a fast moving project. We didn't have the luxury of using available and traditional Sun patterns. In addition to design time for each user story, we had to spec each pattern along the way. Ultimately, we created a design language system that provided the details individual components and page-level patterns.
This was a fast paced project that employed the Agile methodology. During this project, I learned how to integrate UX into Agile.
